Introducing Hunting Guide Dylan Clayton

hunting-guide-dylanHi, my name is Dylan Clayton and I’m 23 years old. I have grown up in the small farming community of Reporoa since the age of 7. When I was 8yrs old I went on my first big hunting adventure into the rugged hills of the Tararua ranges and witnessed my first stag being shot. From that day on there was no looking back, I had decided I was now going to be a hunter! I went on to spend every spare hour I could with various hunting adventures in our local area and further afield and I remain just as enthusiastic about it.

My two favourite times of the year to hunt deer are during the spring time while the deer are in good condition after all the new spring growth, it’s the best time to stock the freezer full of prime venison. The other is towards the end of March until the end of April when the stags are roaring. Theres nothing quite like sneaking up on a trophy stag in his domain when he is fired up wanting to fight. The hairs on the back of your neck stand up and your heart is going flat out.

During the cooler time of the year I will usually be found pig hunting with my pig dogs trying to catch a big old cunning boar. During summer I love getting out on the local lakes fishing for the beautiful rainbow and brown trout that we are lucky enough to have on offer.

In the future I hope to venture overseas and further my guiding experience during the New Zealand off season. Initially in Canada as I have heard great things about the land and wildlife. I love sharing my skills and local hunting knowledge with people, helping them obtain the trophy animal that they have travelled all this way to get, and share in their NZ Hunting story.
Anyway, thats enough about me. Get in touch with the friendly team from Broadview Hunting, book a trip and come and tell me your story. I look forward to meeting you.
